Yarn Baycrest Sayelle Knitting Worsted - two 50 g balls in one colour. One 50 g ball in a contrast colour

CLUB #1

Using main colour cast on 16-0-16 (32 sts) in Kl, Pl rib. RC000. Do 30 rows in rib at T 3. Transfer ribber sts to main bed. Increase evenly across the row to 21-0-21 (42 sts). RC000, T 6, knit 15 rows. Change to contrast and knit 2 rows. Change back to main colour and knit to row 30. Transfer every other st to one next to it - put empty needles to non-working position - knit 4 rows at T2. Gather remaining stitches on yarn with a bodkin.

CLUB #3

Using main colour do rib same as club #1. Transfer to main bed, increase evenly across the row as before. RC 000, T6, knit 10 rows. Knit 2 rows contrast. Knit 3 rows main colour. Knit 2 rows contrast. 3 rows main colour. 2 rows contrast. Using main colour knit to row 30 and finish off as club #1.

CLUB #5

Using main colour do rib and increases same as club #1. RC000, T6, knit 5 rows. 2 contrast, 3 main colour - until you have 5 stripes in contrast colour. Knit to row 30 and finish off as before.


TO FINISH

Pull stitches taken off on the bodkin tight and fasten. Sew side seams - being careful to match stripes. With crochet hook, attach contrast yarn to top of club cover #1, do a 75 stitch chain and attach to club cover #3, do another 75 stitch chain and attach to club cover #5. Make pompoms in contrast yarn and attach.

VARIATIONS

Knit the club covers in one colour and duplicate stitch the numbers on them. Do each club cover a different colour (great way to use up oddments). For ladies, try punch lace with added lace trim.
